I have had many questions about gaining access to the web site. If you are having issues getting your account activated, read this article!
There are 3 issues that could present themselves when trying to create your account. The first issue would be using a login account that I or Charles will recognize as being that of an active patroller. The second would be checking your junk mail for the response from the web site that you need to activate your account. The third issue could be the lost password. I will address each of these issues in this article.
Choosing a login name is important. We use the login ID to determine who you are. We receive a large volume of people registering, on the web site, that are not patrollers. For every registration Charles and I receive an email. To keep the Patrollers information secure, we keep much of the content hidden from registered users that are not patrollers. To do this we make the Patroller an author. This designation allows you to submit articles and pictures to the site, view schedules and other patrol related information. So please pick a login name that we can recognize. An excellent choice would be your NSP patrol ID.
We have been having issues with the account that has been sending the login confirmation emails. I have since changed the email address in an attempt resolve the situation, but there is still the possibility that the email will end up in your junk mail folder, or be blocked entirely by your ISP. If you do not get the confirmation email within 15 minutes, check your junk mail. If you still cannot find the email, please send me and CC Charles Butrick that you have not received your confirmation, and we will look into the issue.
How many passwords do you have to keep track of? Being an Information Technology Professional I understand. I have several dozen passwords I need to keep track of. To help you with this, the website has a function that will email your password to the email account you registered when you created your account. If the password retrieval email does not find its way to your inbox within 15 minutes, feel free to send an email to me and CC Charles Butrick about the issue. Another solution that you may wish to consider is a password keeper program. The one I recommend is called ‘KeyPass’. This free program will keep your passwords in a secure, encrypted format that is extremely difficult to crack.
I will try my best to make this site as useful as I can and will work hard to make sure you have the access you need. If you have any suggestions for the site please drop me a line at
